This total is made up of five hundred thirty-two thousand pure album sales, ninety-five thousand streaming equivalent album units and the remaining units from track equivalent albums. Its lead single, "Swim," also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The album likewise achieved major milestones on the music streaming platform, Spotify. Following its release, Arirang became the most-streamed Korean pop album in the history of the platform and the most-streamed album in a single day for the period of January to December 2026.
Furthermore, it was announced by the recording label that the group would release a new song as part of a vinyl edition of the album.
During a Weverse Live broadcast in January, statements were made by RM sharing that the title originated from a period of deep reflection during his mandatory military service. When the group reunited, they found themselves looking back on their beginnings and the experiences that shaped them, , e.g., their shared struggles.
"The keyword 'Arirang' came up. Honestly, the meaning is different for each person, because there are many ways you can interpret Arirang's lyrics. I think it's about sadness, longing and love," the lead singer stated.
Adding to this sentiment, j-hope explained that the title symbolizes both the shared journey of the group and their longing to perform together once again.
"[Arirang] feels like our roots. From that way, Arirang was what tied it all together really well," he remarked.
