Consistent with the protocols of the South Korean entertainment industry, the responsibility of addressing the controversy fell upon the corporate representatives of the artists. People Entertainment, the agency of Sooyoung, issued a formal statement to Star News Korea to clarify the matter. The agency confirmed that it is indeed true that the two have broken up, and that they have decided to remain good colleagues moving forward.

Subsequently, the management of Jung corroborated the separation. A representative of the actor noted that the exact timing of the split is a private matter, hence, definitive dates would be difficult to confirm. However, the agency added that the heavy professional workloads of the actors result to the dissolution of their romantic ties, indicating that both parties must now cope up with their increasingly demanding schedules.

Unless the individuals involved choose to speak personally on the matter, further informations regarding the breakup would remain withheld from the public domain. The couple maintained their relationship from 2012 to 2026, though they officially confirmed their status to the press in 2014.

Apart from her tenure in the popular K-pop girl group, Sooyoung has successfully transitioned into acting. Her extensive portfolio includes various television series, e.g., “Dating Agency: Cyrano,” “My Spring Days” and “So I Married the Anti-fan.” Meanwhile, Jung starred in several critically acclaimed dramas, including “Prison Playbook,” “Crash Course in Romance” and “Hospital Playlist.” Official announcements from their agencies indicated that both stars would now focus entirely on their upcoming solo endeavors.
