Arrangements are being made by the local government of Manila to ensure the safety of the runners, and steps are being taken by city officials to effectively showcase the rich history of the metropolis. Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso and Vice Mayor Chi Atienza hosted Tuesday’s media launch at the Manila City Hall’s Bulwagang Villegas, where the mayor expressed his profound gratitude to the event organizers.

If thousands of runners flock to the capital, the local government would ensure that traffic enforcers are deployed so that motorists can cope up with the road closures, unless unforeseen weather disturbances occur. Administrative coordination for the sporting event runs from Monday to Friday at the city hall.

To celebrate its fifth year, Sunrise Events, the organizing agency, is bringing National Artist for music Ryan Cayabyab to helm the theme “Ito ay atin, sariling atin,” which was culled from his Original Pilipino Music compositions. Cayabyab lent his music to the event while conceptualizing the main ideas for the medals that would be awarded to finishers.

During the launch, Princess Galura, general manager of The IRONMAN Group Philippines, highlighted the cultural significance of the marathon to the over one hundred fifty attendees present:

"This year is more than a celebration, it is a celebration of Filipino identity, music and the community that helped build Rock ‘n’ Roll Manila over the last five years."

One of the leading officials of the organizing agency believe that combining physical activities with entertainment is expected to result to a stronger sense of community among residents and tourists alike. Various entertainment figures, e.g., former band member Geneva Cruz, Regine Tolentino and Rowell Santiago, joined Cayabyab during the launch to show their support.

Katherine Wong of AIA Philippines emphasized that running is a powerful way to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Assurances were made by the corporate sponsors that they aim to inspire more Filipinos to take charge of their wellness. The official contract signing ceremony was also attended by Melissa Henson, the chief marketing officer of the company, and Ines Preysler, brand director for ASICS.
