Pageant aspirants value health and push youth sports

In a nation where rice is practically a religion, striking a dietary balance is a challenging feat. As the country prepares for upcoming international competitions, efforts are being made by pageant candidates to promote holistic wellness, an initiative that aligns with the mandate of the Department of Health. The department continuously advocates for proper nutrition to curb lifestyle diseases. If candidates are to cope up with the immense pressure of representing the Philippines on the global stage, unless rigorous health disciplines are maintained, their grueling schedules might result to physical exhaustion.

Mister World Philippines candidate Wendell Pamfilo, a contestant from Nueva Ecija, admitted that he is very conscious of his well-being. He ensures a balanced diet, noting that while the local culinary scene is rich, moderation remains essential. "Rice is not bad once in a while but balancing your diet is very important since health is very important, too, and we don't want sickness or anything," Pamfilo stated.

During training regimens that often run from Monday to Sunday, concerns were raised regarding the sedentary habits of today's children. Observing that the youth frequently spend their time glued to screens or tablets, Pamfilo emphasized the need to empower them through sports. A group of local youth advocates believe that such physical activities are critical. Pamfilo plans to establish an organization to help marginalized children pursue their education and desired sports, especially since the Philippines remains a developing country. Various trainings and health-related advices would be provided to the beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, Binibining Pilipinas candidate Gwendoline Meliz Soriano from Baguio shared her insights during a prepared speech for Snow Caps Gold, a food supplement brand. She stressed that true beauty transcends looking perfect; rather, it is about being confident, authentic and resilient. Holistic care, which includes the regular intake of supplements, e.g., vitamins, is essential so that candidates can serve others better. A panel of her supporters have noted her courage, a trait that ultimately made her the chosen winner of the brand.

To succeed, Pamfilo added that one must stay composed, act as a role model and inspire others to reach their life goals, whether it involves becoming a community leader, a public servant or a businessman.

Official pageant organizers announced that the Mister World Philippines two thousand twenty-six coronation night would be held on June 21 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. Furthermore, the coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas would take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, where two crowns are at stake for the Miss International and Miss Globe representatives.
