May 22. Timely advisories were issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, as the agency expects the rest of the country to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. These sudden downpours could result to localized flooding, especially over the rest of Mindanao, requiring local government units to ensure their constituents can cope up with the shifting weather patterns.

From Saturday to Monday, May 23 to 25, the weather disturbance would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Eastern Visayas and Palawan. If significant changes in the forecast occur, updated meteorological informations and satellite imageries would be released by the bureau unless the system dissipates sooner. A team of meteorologists from the agency are continuously tracking the development of the low pressure area to ensure prompt public advisories.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, May 26 to 27, the southwesterly windflow would begin to prevail across the archipelago. It is anticipated that this meteorological event would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Palawan. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are still expected over the rest of the country with possible isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, especially over the rest of Mindanao.

From Thursday to Friday, May 28 to 29, the southwesterly windflow would continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the aforementioned areas, e.g., the Zamboanga Peninsula and Palawan. The rest of the country would continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, especially over the Visayas and the rest of Mindanao.

The strict mandate for public safety and disaster response falls squarely on the local government units, and localized preparations are being made to mitigate any adverse impacts. The bureau noted that this weekly weather outlook would be updated through 24hr public weather forecasts and advisories if necessary.

Heavy rains triggered by the ITCZ caused severe flooding in Davao City, leaving one dead, displacing hundreds of families, and prompting repair plans from the Department of Public Works and Highways after a bridge collapse.
